Cathay Pacific Cargo recognises its top customers in Hong Kong and Shanghai

Awards and prizes were presented at the dinners to thank loyal cargo partners

Cathay Pacific Cargo recently hosted two events to reward and recognise its leading customers. In Hong Kong it was delighted to welcome its leading customers to the Top Customer Awards Dinner 2021 at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, as thanks for their loyal support and a celebration of collective achievement, especially amid the unprecedented events of the past few years. Meanwhile, on the Chinese Mainland, Cathay Pacific Cargo’s Shanghai cargo sales team hosted their own 2021 Top Agents Award Dinner at The Middle House in Shanghai to thank the business’ leading cargo agents for their ongoing support.

In Hong Kong, a smartly dressed crowd of some 85 guests attended, joined by a number of senior Cathay leaders who presented 45 special awards to our customers – including the Top Customer Awards, Outstanding Route Performance Awards, Business Partner Awards as well as the Rising Star Awards.

The event was hosted by Tom Owen, Director Cargo, and George Edmunds, General Manager Cargo Commercial. Tom opened the night by thanking everyone in attendance for their continued support during these extraordinary times. He reassured them clear plans to reinvigorate the cargo network and restore Hong Kong’s position as the world’s leading aviation hub – while also emphasising a commitment to the future by investing in digitisation, innovation and sustainability.

Tom concluded by thanking the entire Cathay Pacific Cargo team for their hard work and outstanding customer service, in spite of the year’s many challenges.

There were two more special moments this year: a “Chief Entertainment Officer” Award for team member Eliza Tam, who will be retiring next year after spending 32 years with the company – and organising an impressive 17 Top Agents Award Dinners in that time.

The ceremony also held a surprise for George Edmunds: the event team had secretly put together a birthday celebration for him, complete with plentiful flower bouquets and a birthday cake to be shared by all.

It was a wonderful way to spend an evening, surrounded by old friends. A reunion to remember, and one that set the tone for an optimistic year ahead.

In Shanghai, 14 Cathay Pacific Cargo staff, led by General Manager China Agatha Lee and Regional Head of Cargo China Jenny He, welcomed 31 of the top leading agents from across the region, as well as newly joined Area Manager Shanghai Jiangsu and Shandong Stellar Wang.

In her opening remarks Agatha Lee reflected on the unprecedented challenges of the past year and toasted her appreciation for the unwavering support of the cargo agents, despite the circumstances. She outlined that Cathay Pacific would make every effort to increase capacity as much as possible to fulfil customers’ needs.

Later in the evening, she and Jenny He presented the 2021 Best Partner Awards to 26 cargo agents at the dinner, and the evening finished with games and a lucky draw with prizes that included aircraft models of Cathay’s Boeing 747-8F freighter, an allocated pallet space from any Chinese Mainland port to Hong Kong, and two Business Class tickets departing from any Mainland China port to a global destination. It made for a memorable evening after an unforgettable year.
